Alien

In a period of 3 months Giger created a series of 30 paintings for Ridley Scott and Twentieth Century Fox regarding the movie-project Alien. After that he was send to the Shepperton Studio's in England for supervision regarding the implementation of the decor pieces. In 1979 Twentieth Century Fox finances a series of 6 Alien silk-screen prints to thank the sponsors of the movie.

The designs and paintings created for the movie were exhibited in the gallery Baviera in Zurich first and after that in the 'Musee Cantonal Des Beaux-arts in Lausanne. Giger also was nominated for the Oscar 'Best Achievement for Visual Effects' regarding his contribution to the Alien movie. He won and received the Oscar on 14 April 1980.
