Hermes with the Infant Dionysus dates from 340 before Christ and was made by Praxiteles, a sculpture from the
Greek Classic period. The marble statue is about 2 meter high
and was originally created for the temple of Hera at Olympia.
The autonomy and naturalness of the statue are the two aspects the artists from the Classic Period were trying to realize.
